Expect thousands of people to descend on Spanish River Park this Saturday for a truly inspirational event, as the City of Boca Raton Advisory Board for People with Disabilities salutes the disabled members of our community at the 3rd annual "Miracle on the Intracoastal."

This free event, scheduled for 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the park's Intracoastal lagoon and marina area, includes complimentary barbecue lunch, live music and a tented promenade zone featuring more than 20 local charities that provide services for people with physical and mental challenges. Attendees also will have the opportunity to ride on one of the 25-plus privately owned yachts donated for the day by members of Royal Palm Yacht and Country Club in Boca. Included in the festivites: a speedboat, Fidelity IV, once owned by President George H.W. Bush.

The City of Boca Raton sanctions and sponsors this event, which has gained notoriety as one of the nation's premier free events for people with disabilities. Members of the Coast Guard, Junior Navy ROTC cadets from Boca Raton High School, city lifeguards and a host of volunteers will be on hand to assists with the proceedings.
