Mall food gets a little less mall-y with the debut of Tossed,a “fresh, healthy” fast-casual eatery specializing in salads, wraps, sandwiches and panini) that this week opens in revitalized food court (now dubbed “The Cafes at Boca”) in the sprawling Boca Town Center.
The local Tossed is the first in South Florida for the Fort Lauderdale-based company, which operates five other outlets in the U.S. and Canada. Along with its fast and healthy orientation, Tossed also boasts such eco-friendly touches as menus printed on recycled paper and salad bowls made from recycled water bottles.
The fairly extensive menu features salads ranging from Caesar and spinach to apple-walnut and Southwest blackened chicken, plus a lengthy list of ingredients for DIYers. Wraps wrap everything from tofu and veggies to chicken and portobello mushrooms, while sandwiches and panini range from turkey and avocado and caprese to ham ‘n’ Swiss and chicken, blue cheese and apple. There’s even a gluten-free menu.
