One of the pluses of the slow summer season for hungry locals is that restaurateurs have to come up with different ways to put butts in seats. Winemaker dinners, for example.

THIS DINNER HAS BEEN POSTPONED. CHECK BACK FOR A NEW DATE. On Tuesday, June 14, Table 42 (399 SE Mizner Blvd., 561/826-2625) in Boca’s Royal Palm Place is hosting an Antinori wine dinner, five courses paired with four wines for $75 per person. Along with a selection of pre-dinner snacks and post-entrée desserts, courses will include arugula and radicchio salad with pine nuts, oranges and shaved fennel; risotto with wild mushrooms; and filet mignon with goat cheese cannelloni and red wine sauce. Featured wines will be Col de Salici prosecco, Santa Cristina Bianco, Barbera d’Asti Prunotto and Pian Delle Vigne Brunello. The dinner runs from 7 to 9 p.m. and you’ll need to make reservations by June 7 and leave a deposit.
And speaking of Thursday, June 7, the wines of Argentina’s Terrazas de los Andes will be poured with a five-course dinner at downtown Delray’s Prime (110 E. Atlantic Ave., 561/865-5845). Winemaker Herve Birnie Scott will be on hand as well, walking and talking diners through a menu that begins with Maryland-style crabcakes with 2010 Torrontes Reserva, then moves on to steakhouse salad with the 2010 reserve Chardonnay, crostini of beef carpaccio and braised short ribs with 2009 reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, filet mignon with fingerling potatoes and asparagus with the 2007 Afincado Malbec, concluding with chocolate bread pudding with Grand Marnier Cordon Rouge. Cost is $65 per person and dinner begins at 7 p.m.
