Can you believe it’s time for back-to-school shopping? It may seem early, but the sales have already begun. As a homeschooler, I don’t often think about this subject, but I need to! Florida will be having the “tax-free” weekend for back to school shopping on August 3-5th. And it doesn’t just apply to the usual school supplies, such as paper, pens, notebooks, etc. Tax-free items include books, clothing and footwear that sell for $50 or less per item, and standard school supplies that sell for $10 or less per item. To see a complete list, please click here. And, it’s also time to start looking for the super deals you can often find at stores such as Office Depot, Staples, Walgreens, CVS, as well as Walmart, Target and others.
This is also a great time to stock up on supplies or clothing you might need over the next few months. After all, Christmas/Hannukah is not that far away now! If you do not have children going back to school, it is still a good time to stock up on supplies for your home or office. And of course the summer clothes are all starting to go on sale. Since Floridians get to wear summer clothes pretty much year-round, it’s a good time to buy clothes if needed.
You will still want to compare prices at the stores where you shop. Many stores will have a limit on how many of a sale item you can purchase, so it may be necessary to go to multiple locations or make multiple trips to get what you need. Fortunately for us, in S. Florida, we usually have multiple locations of each store within a reasonable distance.
Before you begin to shop, use your Sales Flyers from Sunday’s paper, or from the store’s website, to compare prices to make sure you get the best deals.
If your children require uniforms for school, you may want to check prices in stores as well as on their website. Many stores offer site-to-store shipping for free where you can order online and pick up at the store, and the prices may vary. And, of course, don’t rule out second-hand stores for clothing needs.
Now for some other good stuff!
All You Magazine July 2012 Coupon List – Coupon20s has been kind enough to provide a list of coupons that are in Walmart’s All You Magazine for June. You can check it out here to see if you want to stop by and pick up a copy. I believe it retails for $2.49 per issue if you buy it at Walmart, but you can get a subscription for $1.66 per issue here. However, I will tell you that sometimes the subscription version has fewer coupons than the newsstand version.
