You may have heard of community yoga or Pilates, where a studio will hold a weekly or bi-weekly class for a low fee or a small donation or in some cases for no cost at all. These classes are offered so people can enjoy all the benefits even if they can’t afford the price tag. Community classes are also helpful for people that want to try a class without having to buy a whole package.

The same concept holds true for acupuncture at Integrated Holistic Medicine (9045 La Fontana Blvd, Suite 106; 954/825-3670; The new West Boca alternative medicine clinic is offering community acupuncture for $30 for an hour-long session (in a shared room). Individual private sessions start at $50.

The clinic offers traditional Chinese medicine utilizing advanced, modern and painless techniques. “At the Integrated Holistic Medicine clinic, we truly look at each patient as a whole and treat the root cause of their issue and not just the symptom,” says co-owner Dr. Carlos Restrepo.

Acupuncture is a traditional Chinese medicine practice in which hair-like needles are inserted into the body at various points. The process, which has evolved since its first usage more than 4,000 years ago, is painless and tailored to each individual client. Acupuncture is used to treat a variety of ailments like stress, anxiety, headaches and low energy. There are also studies that have shown acupuncture was used to quit smoking, lose weight and help with fertility problems.

Want to try acupuncture for free? Head to Integrated Holistic Medicine, Aug. 18 for a free day of acupuncture from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Each client will be given a free 45-minute community acupuncture session (not a private room) tailored to their individual needs. “Through our free acupuncture day, we are thrilled to offer many members of the Boca Raton community the opportunity to experience the benefits and results of acupuncture,” Restrepo says. “We’re confident they will be pleased and forever changed!”
