The countdown has begun! Starting this weekend, Boca Raton is rolling out all kinds of debate-related activities. Friday night at 6:30 p.m. will be the “Community & Culture Expo” in Mizner Park with events ranging from live music and art to theater, film and literature. Next Friday night on October 12, at 7 p.m. there will be a viewing of one of our favorite movies, “Mr. Smith Goes to Washington” with the legendary Jimmy Stewart at the Mizner Park Amphitheater, preceded by a talk by political pundit and Lynn history professor Dr, Robert Watson.
On the weekend preceding the Monday night debate, Bonnie Raitt will perform at the Amphitheater at 8 p.m. on Sunday night, and the party of all parties will be held the night of the debate.
The Debate Watch Party will be preceded by a Rock The Vote Concert featuring the American alternative band Neon Trees, followed by a Debate Watch party on large TV screens. The concert is presented by Xbox LIVE, and will be streamed in real time on Xbox LIVE, as part f its Election 2012 initiative.
There will be live viewer and audience interaction, giveaways, Rock the Vote street teams and a party vibe like nothing we’ve seen here in quite awhile. With 18 days and counting, Boca Raton is about to be put on the map.
Make sure you’re in the middle of it.
