The underserved denizens of West Delray are a little less so with the debut of Bella Amici Pizzeria (14859 Lyons Rd., 561/270-3025) in the giant Delray Marketplace at West Atlantic Avenue and Lyons Road. The baseball-themed eatery dishes New York and Chicago-style deep dish pizzas, along with pizza-by-the-slice, calzones, heroes, assorted Parmigianas and both house and DIY pastas. Service is modified counter. You order up front, then your food is brought to you at the table.
Opening in Delray later this year on South Fed just north of Linton is the fifth local Zona Fresca fast-casual Mexican restaurant. The Fort Lauderdale-based company is on a modest expansion trajectory, with two new outlets in New Jersey in the wings too. The focus here is on a lighter, fresher kind of Cal-Mex cuisine, and after a couple of runs to its Lauderdale restaurant, I can say they do a pretty good job of delivering. The menu doesn’t break any new culinary ground, consisting of giant burritos, tacos, filled out with nachos, quesadillas, tostadas and the like. Prices are right, though, with nothing over eight bucks.
Don’t panic, Lindsay Autry fans, but the restaurant at Sundy House, where the former Top Chef contestant seriously kicked up the food, is closing. . . but just for a few days, and just for some modest renovations. From Friday, Aug. 16 to Saturday, Aug. 24, the dining room will be shut down, reopening for Sunday brunch on Aug. 25., just in time to feed your fix for brioche French toast and eggs Benedict.
