As Floridians, we're all familiar with the brutal summer heat that starts in the early hours of our August mornings. To help you keep your cool in the next few months, try these refreshing and healthy summer drinks.


To start off your morning right, reach for a hydrating cantaloupe juice. You will get great anti-aging benefits from the high levels of anti-oxidants and vitamins A, C, B6 and B3. Because cantaloupe is high in potassium and magnesium it will not only keep your cells hydrated, but can also help reduce wrinkles!

Cantaloupe Juice

Peel 1/2 of cantaloupe and slice in thin slices.

Put through a juicer

Enjoy over ice.

To beat the heat in the middle of the afternoon, try sipping on an ice-cold raspberry lemonade. Raspberries are known for their fat-burning ketones, and lemons can aid in overall detox. Together they become a metabolism-boosting powerhouse that is perfect for quenching your thirst. Just make sure to get your raspberries organic, as the conventional kind has too much pesticides. Personally, I prefer frozen organic raspberries because they are picked when ripe and cost less than fresh berries.

Raspberry Lemonade

1 cup of frozen organic raspberries.

3 tablespoons of raw coconut nectar

2 lemons, hand squeezed

4 cups of water

Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender.

Strain through a fine colander or mesh straining bag. Disregard the pulp (or save it for next morning, and add it to your smoothies later)

Serve over ice with a sprig of fresh mint and enjoy all day!


After a hot and humid day, many people gather for happy hours to cool down. For a healthier alternative to a sugary cocktail, try this frozen mango mojito. Mangoes are very high in potassium and help rehydrate your body after a hot and humid day. For those who would like to get a little alcoholic punch, you can add 1 ounce of your favorite rum. But do keep the serving to 1 ounce since alcohol is very hard on your liver.

Frozen Mango Mojito

10 fresh mint leaves

1/3 lime, squeezed

1 teaspoon coconut nectar

1 cup of frozen mango chunks (or 1 cup of fresh, plus extra ice)

1/3 cup water

Blend all ingredients in a high-speed blender. Pour into your favorite glass and garnish with a slice of lime or a fresh mint leaf.
