Immerse yourself in traditional Japanese festivities during Oshogatsu, Japan’s New Year’s celebration.
The Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens is celebrating the occasion on Jan. 19 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. with an event that features traditional Japanese pastimes and customs, musical performances and demonstrations.
In Japanese culture, the new year is a time of renewal and one of the most important annual events. This is your opportunity to experience what Oshogatsu is truly about. Expect activities like mochitsuki, or the making of the Japanese rice cakes called mochi, and omijkuji, Japanese fortune telling.
