With the debut of his third D’Angelo Pizza Wine Bar + Tapas coming to West Delray at the end of October, Angelo Elia has sold his interest in downtown Delray’s D’Angelo Trattoria to partner Danny Scaramellino.
It was an amicable parting, Elia said, one that won’t result in any substantial changes to the restaurant, whose small size didn’t make it a good fit for Elia’s growing restaurant portfolio. Elia said his recipes will continued to be used, and that a trio of Neapolitan chefs is coming to help man the kitchen and no doubt boost the eatery’s authentic Italian bona fides.
Now, though, Elia is focused on the new West Delray project, a 5,000-square-foot osteria in the Shoppes at Addison Place. Look for a menu of dishes like Parmesan and mozzarella-stuffed zucchini flowers, thin-crust pizzas, frittatas baked in a wood-fired oven and house-made gelato. Heading up the kitchen is chef de cuisine Peter Masiello, formerly of Prime supper club in downtown Delray.
