We are hearing nothing but raves about the arts garage these days—a year after its opening, it’s still gaining traction—and scores of new fans. Coming up is a new blues program component (perfect for those sultry summer nights) so stay tuned. In the meantime, this weekend, Saturday night, May 12, it will feature Jazz Project: Troy Roberts at 8 p.m. Call 561/450-6357 for more details (performances are routinely sold out so best to call now if you want to go).

And next week Delray is pulling out all the stops with Big Top On The Avenue, the most-over the-top version of  “On The Avenue” to date. I remember when On The Avenue was Jazz on the Avenue years ago—I loved it—we’d all start out at the Colony Liquor store with an ice-cold beer from Bill Blakeman and Robert Walker, then it was off to stroll the Avenue, listen to music, run into your friends. Back then, Delray was still a small town—not like the party nexus it is now. So it’s only fitting that over the top means Big Top when on May 17, from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., the Rainbow Circus with Cirque du Soleil-style performances will land on Atlantic Avenue— complete with a flying trapeze set up on the lawn of Old School Square. In addition to The Big Top On The Ave event, you'll also find late-night open house for Atlantic Avenue restaurants, Atlantic Avenue boutique shops, and art galleries.

In other words, the party never ends…
