News around town

A local hospital is making news about its A rating and safety score. Late last month, Boca Raton Regional Hospital announced an independent consumer watchdog organization, The Leapfrog Group, awarded Boca Raton Regional an “A” grade for safety. The grade takes into account 26 indicators of how a hospital keeps patients safe from infections, injuries, and medical and medication errors. You can find out more about the Leapfrog safety score at www.hospitalsafetyscore.org.

The Joint Commission, an accreditor of U.S. hospitals, also recently gave Boca Raton Regional Hospital the thumbs up by naming it a “Top Performer on Key Quality Measures.” This means the hospital does a good job at using evidence-based care, which has been shown to be optimal for certain health conditions.
