With summer settling in we all talk about how great it is to have “our” town back—and although Delray does not seem to slack off too much you can still see a slightly slower pace beginning to take hold. Restaurants are not quite as slammed, the sidewalks aren’t thronged with people, and people who live here all year round are coming out at night again—look at everyone who hit the beach for the Super Moon a few weeks ago!
In keeping with our happy stop-and-smell-the-summer pace, here are a few things coming up you might want to check out:
Friday, May 18, is the Delray Beach Art Gallery Walk when all the art galleries in Delray Beach stay open, many serving drinks and hors d’oeuvres with live music. Free for all ages. Along East Atlantic Avenue and its charming side streets, 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.
Thursday, May 24: Turtle Walks on the Beach with Gumbo Limbo have already begun. After an introductory talk in the classroom at Gumbo Limbo Park, participants will caravan in their own vehicles to the beach for an ecology walk. There will be a staff member on the beach on an ATV looking for a nesting loggerhead. If one is found, participants will go to the location of the nesting turtle. The program will end at the beach at 11 p.m., regardless if a turtle has been seen or not. Tickets $8.00.
Saturday, May 26: Arts Garage presents Jazz Project: Chris Labarbera at 8 p.m. Purchase your Arts Garage tickets online at artsgarage.org or call 56/450-6357.
