The gorgeous, dry weather we experienced this past winter is long gone. Inevitably, the seasons change and the departure of the snowbirds means the arrival of the unbearable humidity. Exfoliating is a great way to keep your skin healthy this season. Prepare for summer’s harsh effects by trying one (or all!) of these skin sloughing spa indulgences.

The Lemongrass Ritual at the Maui Spa and Wellness Center (2100 N.W. Boca Raton Blvd; 800/768-6259; themauispa.com; $120 for 50 minutes, $170 for 80 minutes) starts with a warm organic lilikoi (also called the yellow passion fruit) and lemongrass body polish. After a relaxing body wrap, the treatment ends with a hydrating mango butter massage.

The Atlantic Glow Body Experience at The Seagate Hotel & Spa (1000 East Atlantic Avenue; 561/665-4950; theseagatehotel.com; $180 for 80 minutes) is an amazing head to toe exfoliation followed by a Vichy shower (five to seven shower heads right above your treatment table). Warm essential oils and rich body cream are applied via massage to finish the treatment.

At Eden Day Spa (213 East Palmetto Park Road; 561/447-7700; edensayspa.net), the Tropical Coconut Lime Salt Glow ($70 for 40 minutes) is quicker and cheaper than the treatments on this list but is definitely on par when it comes to quality. Lime and coconut oils are blended with mineral-rich sea salts for a brisk exfoliation, which is then followed by warm towels compresses and a light massage with hydrating cream.

The Crushed Pearl Body Smoother at the Eau Spa at the Ritz-Carlton Palm Beach (100 South Ocean Boulevard; 561/533-6000; $175 for 60 minutes) is a great option for sensitive skin. Crushed pearls and minerals gently polish and soften the skin before iridescent pearl body oil is used in a deluxe head to toe massage. Your skin will have a silk-like sheen that lasts all day.

No time to lounge in a spa? Try this DIY body scrub (inspired by Martha Stewart, created by lots of experimenting) for an at-home spa experience: Combine 1 cup of body oil (I used Boots Botanics Organic Body Oil) with 2 cups of Epsom or sea salts and mix. If you prefer a finer grain, try organic cane sugar. Optional: add lemon zest or a few drops of your favorite scented oil for fragrance.
