Just in case you needed a reminder how brutal the local restaurant business is, Stephane Lang-Willar has closed his elegant, eponymous Boca Raton restaurant a little over a month short of its one-year anniversary.

Stephane’s Steak & Seafood opened with a bang in July of last year with chef John Belleme heading the kitchen; the combination of Belleme, who’s got quite the local reputation, and Lang-Willar, who built one of Europe’s largest chain of brasseries, seemed like a good one. Throw in an innovative, iPad-centric wine program curated by Virginia Philip and it seemed even better.

Or maybe not.

In any event, the restaurant is now gone, though I’m told that Belleme is looking to put together a group of investors to take over the space. I’ll try to get some details on that and get back to you asap.
