If you’re looking to workout while having fun and meeting others, check out the Delray Beach Tennis Center (201 W. Atlantic Ave., Delray Beach). Reasonably priced adult clinics are available at the center throughout the week for both beginners and seasoned tennis players.

Tennis offers cardiovascular exercise in a group environment, which can serve as a great motivator. Fitness experts say exercising in a group helps people who might not otherwise get off the couch to workout. It’s also a chance to get out and meet others.

Studies show socializing in fun environments helps with healthy aging.

And if that doesn’t have you already convinced, I can bet tennis is a good stress reliever. Just hitting the ball feels like a release.

Intro to Wanna Workout Class

Notes: Cardio workout clinic; shorter than most clinics

Cost: $15 for members and $20 for non-members

Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Wed. and Thursday from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Join in and you’ll practicing hitting (forehands, backhands and volleys), running and playing points.

Wanna Workout - I

Notes: Low impact workout clinic, especially for seniors

Cost: $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers

Schedule: Every Monday, from 8:30 to 10 a.m.

Wanna Workout - II

Notes: Cardio-intensive and fast moving; for intermediate and advanced tennis players; “less talk; more sweat.”

Cost: $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers

Schedule: Mon. and Wed. from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m., as well as Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.

Back to Basics

Notes: Focuses on stroke technique and drills; for beginner to intermediate players; group lesson

Cost: $20 for members and $25 for nonmembers

Schedule: Tues. and Thurs. from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. and Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
