International Sand Art Competition

This Thanksgiving weekend, the art of sand sculpting is in full swing at Casa Marina, A Waldorf Astoria Resort in Key West as master sand artists compete during Sand Isle’s first-ever International Sand Art Competition. From Wednesday, Nov. 26, through Saturday, Nov. 29, residents and visitors witness six world-renowned sand sculptors as they compete to create intricate designs into mounds of sand solely with the use of masonry trowels, shovels, and most significantly, their hands.

On Saturday, the competition closes out with an awards ceremony followed by a musical celebration. Visitors can also view the artists’ progress with lighted night viewing and festivities. Competitors include Travel Channel’s star Rusty Croft from the hit show ’Sand Masters,' hometown favorite Chris Guinto, world champion Jooheng Tan from Singapore, and more.
