The day will kick off with a ribbon cutting ceremony at 12:15 p.m. and continue with tours throughout the afternoon. The Veterans Trust Race Experience Weekend

The Veterans Trust (TVT), United Way’s Mission United and many more community partners and affiliates will hold the Veterans Trust Race Experience Weekend. During the weekend, NASCARs, exotic, race, and muscle cars will take guests for hot laps on the championship speedway at speeds up to 180mph. In addition to the ride alongs, the weekend will feature military & police assets and demonstrations, a TVT Pit Crew Challenge, free food & drinks and huge kids’ areas with fun for the whole family.

3rd Annual Carousel Carnival

Pompano Citi Centre’s Carousel is turning three years old and in honor of the anniversary, the lifestyle center is hosting its annual “Carousel Carnival” on Friday, September 16th from 6 pm to 9 pm. This free, family-friendly event will feature traditional midway games, free carousel rides, face painting and this year will have a special focus on the arts. “Our partnership with Pompano Arts and its pop-up art gallery, Magnetic Pompano, has been very successful this summer, so we thought we would include them and talented local entertainers in this year’s Carousel Carnival,” said Marley Amaro, the marketing and events manager for Pompano Citi Centre. “Families will not only get to have some Friday night fun, but will also find it educational and inspirational.” For example, Ms. Amaro said, School of Rock will be performing live during the event, featuring talented student musicians of all ages. Magnetic Pompano will be showcasing the carnival-themed artwork of local artist Bonnie Shapiro in its gallery (suite C104). And to top it off, the art of the sleight of hand will have carnival-goers mesmerized during a Magic Show on the main stage. “We are really excited to be hosting the Carnival again this year, not only to kick off the school year but to get ready for the coming season of special, family-friendly events!” said Ms. Amaro. Admission to the Carousel Carnival is free. All attendees will be eligible to enter to win prizes from Pompano Citi Centre retailers and restaurants (no purchase necessary).

St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer

Join the movement: Run, walk to fight childhood cancer at the Palm Beach County St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer on Sept. 24th WHAT: City walkers and runners are lacing up their sneakers to join participants in 61 communities nationwide for the St. Jude Walk/Run to End Childhood Cancer during September's Childhood Cancer Awareness Month to help St. Jude Children's Research Hospital® continue to find cures and save the lives of children battling cancer and other life-threatening diseases. The Walk/Run begins at 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 24th at John Prince Park. The event will feature a scenic 5K, family friendly activities and live entertainment. Participants are encouraged to form teams and raise funds to help support the lifesaving mission of St. Jude, where no family ever receives a bill for treatment, travel, housing or food, so that families can focus on helping their child live. Registration for the event is $10 for adults and children ages 6 and up. Participants who raise $100 will earn an official event T-shirt, and participants who raise $250 will become members of the St. Jude Fearless Fundraiser Club and earn additional St. Jude gear as they fundraise. Oktoberfest 2016 Presented by Society 8 Hospitality Group

Society 8 Hospitality Group is pleased to bring an authentic Oktoberfest celebration to Fort Lauderdale’s Hugh Taylor Birch State Park. During the festivities, guests are encouraged to don their lederhosen as they are transported to a German countryside at the park.
