The building that formerly housed the Caldwell Theatre Company reopened its doors as The Wick Theatre Sept. 20. Owner Marilynn Wick and her daughters Kimberly and Kelly welcomed about 300 guests, including Countess Henriette de Hoernle and M*A*S*H* actress Loretta Swit, for a cocktail party and the opening night of The Sound of Music.
A contingent of Jewish adults (ages 22 to 26) from south Palm Beach County embarked on a memorable 10-day trek to Israel as part of the renowned Birthright program. Two members of the Jewish Federation of South Palm Beach County joined attendees on the Birthright bus for an itinerary that included time in Kiryat Bialik, and Jerusalem, as well as camel rides and floating in the Dead Sea. The Junior League of Boca Raton celebrated local women who serve the community during one of its signature events, held this year at Boca West Country Club. The 26th annual Women Volunteer of the Year luncheon, which included a fashion show by Neiman Marcus, attracted some 650 guests. Peggy Jones of Boca Helping Hands was named Woman Volunteer of the Year. At a special sneak preview event, the crowd mingled with the likes of “Project Runway” judge Nina Garcia, while enjoying Champagne, cocktails and small bites. The two-story, 80,000-square-foot store, which created 120 new jobs, marks Lord & Taylor’s first full-line venture in Florida in more than a decade. Guests of the International Polo Club indulged in flights of fancy during the club’s Planes and Polo event. The fundraiser, held at the ACP Jets hangar at Palm Beach International Airport, welcomed polo patrons and players to view private planes and helicopters while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and Champagne.
