“A Long Time Passing:” A Veteran’s Journey Through Time

November 12, 2020 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm

In observance of Veteran’s Day, InSights & InPerson hosts Ted Engelmann, Photographer and Viet Nam War Veteran. See photographs sampling Ted’s photographic work and travels, and hear about the ways he has documented the continuity, change, and remembrance of veterans’ experiences with war over time. The digital presentation will have ample opportunity for questions, discussion, and audience reflection. Ted Engelmann first started as a photographer during his 1968-1969 tour in Viet Nam as an Air Force Sergeant. Ted’s first return to Viet Nam was in March 1989. For more than thirty years, he has re-photographed the changing culture and landscape of Viet Nam, always being treated with respect by the Vietnamese he has encountered. He has also photographed the parades and memorials of veterans in the United States, as well as those of America’s two major allies in Viet Nam, South Korea and Australia. Between 2008 and 2010, Ted embedded as a freelance photographer in Iraq and Afghanistan to further document veterans’ experiences in a 21st century context. He currently lives in Denver, and is working on a book to consolidate all of his photographic work. Register at https://zoom.us/webinar/register/WN_nEf_19_ZQY2IOi32VRklfQ
