Donna Schneier discusses the significant collection of contemporary jewelry she gifted to the Metropolitan Museum of Art in 2007. These museum-quality pieces, dating from the 1960s to the present and including the work of modern master jewelers, chronicle the history of modern and contemporary jewelry worldwide. Embodying an era in which artists and craftspeople experimented with new materials, techniques, and concepts, these works demonstrate the powerful influence of larger artistic movements including Abstraction, Conceptual, Minimalism, Performance, and Pop art.Coffee and baked goods provided.
