2026 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Brunch

Celebrating the 25th anniversary of The Spady Museum and the 100th anniversary of the construction of The Spady House, the 2026 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Brunch will be a Silver Jubilee, featuring the theatrical talents of CORE Ensemble and a keynote address by guest speaker William “Bill” Nix.

An established advocate for arts, culture, and history, Nix served as Vice President of Marketing and Government Affairs for the Cultural Council of Palm Beach County for more than 15 years. Now president of Nix Communications Group, he is a staunch ally of The Spady Museum and offered to share his personal connections to Dr. King’s legacy for the anniversary celebration. Dr. King and Nix are Atlanta natives, Morehouse College alum, as well as brothers of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. Additionally, the families go back as friends to the 1920’s.

A signature community event, the Dr. King, Jr. Brunch welcomes more than 300 people from Palm Beach and Broward counties for a full breakfast buffet and CORE Ensemble’s dramatic re-enactments of scenes from the lives of Zora Neale Hurston and Langston Hughes, including some of Hughes’ poetry, details on the Harlem Renaissance period, and music from the Jazz Age. Actor Tiffany Terrell will portray Hurston, and actor Dracyn Blount will portray Hughes.
