Why did January feel endless while February flew by in a flash? Seriously, time is weird this year. Now that March has arrived, I can’t help but wonder how fast it will go—especially with Broward and Palm Beach County Spring Break right around the corner! With only a few weeks left to plan, this Boca mom is already brainstorming fun ways to keep her kiddo…and probably some of her friends entertained (and off their phones and tablets for at least a few hours a day).
One of my annual go to’s? Camp. Whether your child is into gymnastics, science, computer programming, art, water sports—you name it, I have a great local Spring Break Camp recommendation. And if you’d prefer to host “Camp Mom (or Dad)” for the week, then I have some fun options for you as well, both locally and around the state.
Make Memories at MODS

The Museum of Discovery & Science in Fort Lauderdale (an easy Brightline ride from Boca Raton and a fun activity itself!) is a top Spring Break destination for hands-on learning and exploration, featuring interactive exhibits designed to spark curiosity in guests of all ages. With so many days off from school, there’s no better time to dive into the exciting experiences this museum has to offer. From time-traveling adventures to sustainability explorations, there’s something for every mini explorer (and their parents) to enjoy!
Spring Break Highlights at MODS:

Kick It in the Florida Keys

If you’re dreaming of a Spring Break escape that’s equal parts relaxation and adventure, the Islander Resort in Islamorada should be at the top of your list—if you can snag a booking! We’re actually going two weeks early just so we can enjoy the newly transformed beachfront resort. I hear it’s popular for a reason… With 114 bungalows and suites plus 25 two-bedroom bayside villas, every stay comes with waterfront views, modern amenities, and a complimentary laid-back, beachy vibe. Each room even has its own private patio!
As for activities—there are a ton! Your kids will love the brand-new freshwater Oasis Pool, while parents looking for a little peace and quiet can lounge by the cabana-lined saltwater Terrace Pool. The Seaside Sports area also offers two acres of fun, including a 9-hole putting course and new permanent courts for pickleball, basketball, volleyball and bocce ball.
If you’re lucky enough to grab a reservation at the Islander, consider your family’s Spring Break plans MADE!
Get Away to Great Wolf Lodge

Another fun, easy getaway option for the family, and only two hours away from Boca Raton, is Great Wolf Lodge located just outside Naples. They are hosting a special Spring Breakout Celebration (3/6-4/27) which aims to bring the magic of spring to life with colorful decor inspired by the season, plus a lineup of festive activities designed to keep your “Pack” entertained in between splash sessions. Picture spring-themed crafts and stories, sunshine dance parties and seasonal games like tic-tac-toe and bingo!
With a balmy 84-degree water park, endless entertainment, and pretty much everything you could want under one roof, Great Wolf Lodge is a stress-free escape for Boca families who want the fun without the hassle of flights or long road trips.
Meet Up for a Mermaid Brunch

One of my all-time favorite Spring Break traditions? Taking my family to The Wreck Bar at B Ocean Resort in Fort Lauderdale for a magical, under-the-sea experience! Treat your crew to a family-friendly brunch and live mermaid show, where real Coral Reef Mermaids swim before your eyes in this one-of-a-kind interactive mermaid performance held on Saturdays at 11 a.m.
The storyline: While swimming up to see you (yes, in actual tanks), the mermaids lose their magical gadgets. They need your help to find them! Friends Ella and King Neptune will help you along the way. But, be careful! Some items aren’t lost gadgets. They’re actually items that pollute our oceans. With help from you and your kids, they can get their gadgets back and return to protecting the reefs. All while recycling those pesky items that are polluting our oceans!
Tickets must be purchased in advance. Doors open at 11:00 a.m., show starts at 12 p.m.
Whether you go big or small this Spring Break, just remember that you only have so many of these school vacations with your kids. Try to make them count however you can.
