Approaching a high-rent ghost town just a year or so ago, Downtown at the Gardens is staging a pretty impressive comeback.
A couple weeks back we blogged about the newly opened Dirty Martini from niteclub impresario Cleve Mash (with a culinary assist from the formidable Roy Villacrusis).
Now another high-concept eatery is slated to make its debut. That would be 51 Supper Club and Lounge, an upscale eatery with an Old World feel that’s targeting an entirely different audience than the Martini’s hip, young hearty partiers.
Traditional, Euro-oriented cuisine tweaked and modernized by exec chef Armand Vanderstigchel will be dished up in a swanky-looking space that features an abundance of crystal chandeliers, an undulating tile-faced and mirror-backed bar, cozy half-moon booths and posh white leather chairs. There’s also a silver Rolls-Royce to “pick up our most loyal and frequent fans.â€
51’s piano lounge will feature the tunes of old-time crooners like Martin and Sinatra, with a dance floor and walls lined with photos of old New York. Grand opening is slated for Tuesday, June 9. Lunch and dinner seven days a week.
