The Boca Raton and Delray Beach IPIC movie theaters will live to screen movies another day, as the company has been bought out with plans to maintain operations of the theaters.

The movie theater chain filed for bankruptcy in late February, with plans to close the Boca Raton, Delray Beach and North Miami Beach locations. However, CMX Cinemas won the bid to purchase IPIC theaters in Florida, Georgia, Texas, Maryland, and New Jersey.

According to a press release circulated Monday, CMX Cinemas has “retained the theater and restaurant teams serving guests at the acquired locations, helping ensure operational continuity and preserving the hospitality culture that has helped define the IPIC experience.”

The theaters will keep the IPIC name as well as their affiliated restaurants, such as Serena Pastificio in Boca Raton. The IPIC website and mobile app will continue as normal, as well as IPIC Access membership, points, gift cards, and rewards.

Known for its lounge seating and service “ninjas” taking food and drink orders tableside, IPIC has become popular for its upscale movie-going experience. The company was founded by Hamid Hashemi in Boca Raton. The company opened its first Palm Beach County location in 2012 in Boca Raton’s Mizner Park. Delray Beach welcomed IPIC in 2019. That same year, the company filed bankruptcy and new owners took over.
