South Florida-based Akra Restaurant Group (ARG) is recognizing Blood Cancer Awareness Month by donating a portion of sales to Blood Cancer United on Sept. 30.
Restaurants under the ARG umbrella include Kaluz (with locations in Fort Lauderdale, Wellington, Plantation, and Pembroke Pines) and Mizner Park’s Max’s Grille.
According to the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center at University of Miami’s Miller School of Medicine, Florida ranks the highest in the nation for leukemia diagnoses. To combat the growing need, ARG restaurants will donate 20 percent of sales on Sept. 30 from 4 to 9 p.m., with a goal of hitting at least $20,000.
