An armadillo is coming to Boca, and I don’t mean the mammalian cross between a giant rat and an armored car.
What I do I mean Kevin McCarthy’s Armadillo Cafe, for 16 years a fixture of the restaurant scene in Davie, reborn in 2006 as the Armadillo Beach Restaurant in Dania beach (which closed in 2009). Since then McCarthy, who got his start locally in the Dennis Max restaurant empire, has done catering, consulting and for almost two years was top toque at the Gulfstream Park racetrack and casino in Hallandale Beach.
Details are virtually nonexistent and the restaurant’s website is only a shell, but it’s set to debut “soon” (reportedly sometime this month) on Glades Road just west of the turnpike. I’ll get back to you when I find out more.
