A firm date isn’t quite set but celeb chef and original Mango Gangster Allen Susser will roll out his second Burger Bar (4650 Donald Ross Rd., 561/630-4545) in Palm Beach Gardens within the next couple of weeks.

The Burger Bar concept marks Susser’s first sustained foray into the local restaurant business since closing his renowned Chef Allen’s in Aventura this April after 25 years. The original Burger Bar is in Terminal 4 of the Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood airport; a third BB is slated to debut in Vero Beach sometime in March.

Susser’s partners in the venture are developers George and Lee Heaton and real estate broker Tom Prakas, who’s put together almost as many restaurant deals in South Florida as there are restaurants. The PBG Burger Bar, in Donald Ross Village, will feature a contemporary industrial-chic décor with a black, red and silver color palette, exhibition kitchen, exposed ductwork, private dining room and a spacious outdoor patio.

As for the burgers, they’ll be a proprietary blend of fresh-ground short rib, brisket and sirloin, and come in as many guises as you can shake a hand-cut french fry at. Among the choices: a tropical burger with smothered onions and pineapple-papaya barbecue sauce, a buffalo burger with applewood-smoked bacon and blue cheese, and a USDA Prime burger with mushrooms, onions, Gruyere and house-made steak sauce. And for you high-rollers out there, a Gold Leaf burger topped with 23-carat edible gold leaf and selling for a whopping $25 (with some of the proceeds going to charity).

There’s more too: a Thai chicken burger; Greek lamb burger; Kobe, shrimp and pork belly sliders; conch fritters, truffle fries, Vidalia onion rings and several salads.
