First there were two, then there was one, now there aren’t any.

Those would be Todd English’s two local Wild Olives eateries, which despite their celebrity chef parentage never seemed to catch on with PBC diners. Last year saw Wild Olives Cafe making a quick exit from its CityPlace location, and though at the time it promised to return elsewhere, that promise never materialized (surprising no one who’s covered the restaurant biz for longer than 30 seconds).

Now comes word that English’s more upscale Wild Olives in the tony Shops of Boca is no more, shutting down in favor of a decidedly less pricy and up-market pub (in which the chef is reportedly still involved).

The debut of the new English Tap & Beer Garden is expected sometime next month, and if it’s anything like English’s Las Vegas P.U.B. (Public Urban Bar), there will be an expansive selection of beers on tap (plus beer-based cocktails, as well as kicked up pub grub that ranges from burgers, corn dogs and chicken wings to lobster pot pie, ahi tuna “poke” and a variety of meats cooked on a rotisserie and sold by the pound and half-pound.

Stay tuned for more details.
