Looks like it’s the end of the line for Apicius Ristorante e Enoteca, the way-expensive but way-good rigorously Italian eatery on East Ocean Drive in Lantana. For now, at least, chef-owner Leopold Balestrieri is still consulting at what is now Bar Italia, (UPDATE) which is now reported sold.
Could it have anything to do with the coming two-year closure of the East Ocean Avenue bridge, which would cut off any easy access to the restaurant for the affluent Palm Beachers who were a big part of its clientele?
Don’t know, but it wouldn’t be much of a surprise.
