Dean James Max is this week hosting the grand opening of his second contemporary American seafood restaurant, 3800 Ocean, in the Marriott Singer Island Resort & Spa. The oceanfront eatery is Max’s second in SoFla and features dishes like whitewater clams BLT, sautéed Florida snapper with curried cauliflower and peekytoe crab, and butter-roasted Maine lobster with parsley-lemon sauce.

Boca’s niteclubby Andrew’s Restaurant (99 SE Mizner Blvd., 561/391-7939) has a new chef and a new partner. Taking over the kitchen is well-known local toque Tulio Castilla, previously of Ferraro’s. Andrew’s menu remains essentially the same, though some of Castilla’s more Italian-esque dishes have been added. New partner, joining founder Andrew Pietrak, is Boca-ite Vera Weiler.

And one more restaurant to add to the local dining Dead Pool: Café Veri Amici in Delray. In the same space is Casa di Pepe Italian Ristorante. I’ll try to get more details on that next week. Also on my to-do list: check out what’s happening with Zup, which closed its spot adjacent to Boca’s Royal Palm Place a few weeks back and, according to its Facebook page, is slated to reopen this week in Mizner Park.
