You’re not really going to make Mom cook on Mother’s Day, are you? Even if you never call, you never write (or to update that little chestnut) you never text, you can still take her out for a good meal on her special day (that’s Sunday, May 8, for you forgetful types). Try one of these five restaurants.
Morton’s (5050 Town Center Circle, 561/392-7724) in Boca is dishing up a three-course menu for $59 per person from 3 to 9 p.m. Start with a choice of house or Caesar salads, then pick one of five entrees (filet mignon with b’arnaise sauce, filet oskar with jumbo lump crab, broiled salmon, chicken Christopher and colossal shrimp Alexander) with one side dish, and finish with creme brulee or double chocolate mousse.
At Delray’s City Oyster (213 E. Atlantic Ave., 561/272-0220) there are a trio of Mom’s Day specials in addition to the regular menu, among them filet mignon bruschetta with gorgonzola-balsamic glaze, pan-seared bronzini with jumbo lump crab and tomato-basil risotto; and veal chop with mascarpone polenta, grilled asparagus and mushroom ragout. Moms also get complimentary mimosas. . . yay!
The new (and nearby) Atlantic Ocean Club (217 E. Atlantic Ave., 561/450-7557) is offering a $29 prix fixe menu ($12 for kids under age 13) from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lobster eggs Benedict and mahi-mahi with citrus beurre blanc, plus a make your own omelet station and carving station with prime rib, honey ham and roasted turkey are a few options. There’s a dessert station too, so don’t panic.
If you really want to pull out all the stops for Mom, the Four Seasons Palm Beach (2800 S. Ocean Blvd., 561/582-2800) has a super-swanky brunch buffet from noon to 6 p.m. Just a few of the highlights: an iced seafood station with shrimp, oysters and crab claws, caviar with blini; a tapas bar; beef, ham and salmon carving stations; and more than a dozen desserts. Cost is $100 per person, $30 per child. But you won’t need to eat for a week.
At Brio Tuscan Grill(3101 PGA Blvd., 561/622-0491) in Palm Beach Gardens, they’ll be opening early (10 a.m.) for all you brunching Moms. Along with the regular dinner menu they’ll be serving such brunchy specials as frittata al forno (with eggs, angel hair pasta, bacon, spinach, artichokes and fontina), white chocolate-raspberry french toast and crab-shrimp crepes. Dishes range from $10.95 to $18.95).
