The last week has been nothing short of tragic for South Florida and beyond, as the community mourns and advocates for the 17 people killed in a shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland on Feb. 14.
Fundraisers have been organized across the region and people have taken to social media to show their support for the survivors and victims’ families—including the professional athletes many look up to. Chris Hixon, the athletic director and wrestling coach at the high school, and Aaron Feis, football coach, both died while shielding his students from the shooting.
The Miami Heat, which recently revamped their uniforms in a nod to “Miami Vice,” announced Friday that they added an “MSD” tag to their jerseys:
But the basketball team isn’t the only one; the Florida Panthers hockey team also added a patch to their jerseys:
Non-Florida teams are also showing their support—all Major League Baseball teams will be wearing caps with “SD” on the front. Anthony Rizzo, a first baseman for the Chicago Cubs, is an alumnus from the high school and shared the hat on Twitter:

Golfer Tiger Woods, who is in town for the Honda Classic, pinned an MSD ribbon to his cap, as did Rory McIlroy, Justin Thomas, and MSD alum Nicholas Thompson—more than 2,000 of the ribbons were distributed at the tournament:
