Remember when Spring Break was exactly that…a break?

That was before you had children, of course. Since becoming a parent, I have realized that week off in March is anything but. In fact, I’m usually busier than ever trying to juggle work and coming up with local South Florida activities to keep my daughter busy and out of the house. It’s exhausting!

This was all before I became hip to the concept of Spring Break camp. Whether your son or daughter is into theater, science, gymnastics, arts, crafts—you name it, I probably have a well-researched recommendation for you. Because this year, I’m taking back the B-R-E-A-K in spring break and sending my kid to one of these amazing camps in Boca Raton.

Camp Twisters

Camp Twisters

If your child loves climbing, jumping, running and flipping, then they will have a blast at Twisters. Registration includes gymnastics instruction, healthy snack and juice each day, arts & crafts, movie time, fun and games. My daughter informed me that there’s also a fair amount of open play. In addition to spring break and summer camp, Twisters offers many day camps throughout the school year during holiday breaks and teacher work days. It’s an air-conditioned lifesaver!

Children’s Theater Camp

“Beauty & the Beast” at Showtime Boca

You’re not takin’ away my…break! Everyone has been obsessed with the Broadway musical “Hamilton” since it came to town, and what better theme for this year’s spring break camp at Showtime Performing Arts Theater? Your Boca kid will learn and fine-tune their performance skills from the very best theatre professionals in our area and have fun while doing it. And if you still haven’t caught “Hamilton” on Broadway, this camp also includes a full performance at the end of the week for families.

Sugar Sand Park Spring Break Blast

Sugar Sand Park

Boca Raton’s Sugar Sand Park is making spring break fun for the whole family this year with programs, classes and activities for kids in first to fifth grade. Not to mention their special Spring Break class programming. This year’s theme is Up, Up and Away, which involves your kids joining the Children’s Science Explorium staff for experiments, outdoor fun and something creative to take home each day.
