If you’ve happened to be in any of our hospitals over the past several weeks, you may have noticed stunning Christmas trees in some of the lobbies. They might not be from the North Pole exactly, but they are certainly the work of one of our local Santas, longtime Boca resident and philanthropist Anne Green.

Green started her tree movement (she does it all, from concept to cost to hands-on decorating) several years ago, and it’s growing. It’s a labor of love and holiday cheer, and we asked Anne why she does all this, when she could be simply enjoying her own holidays like the rest of us.

“Hospitals are so frightening to most people, and the trees give them a moment of pleasure and hope,” she says. “[The trees] bring back many memories to many scared and heartbroken patients and the families who walk through those doors. It’s a season of peace and hope… even a minute of a smile makes every tree worth doing.”

The trees this year can be viewed in the Lynn Women’s Health and Wellness Institute, the Marcus Neuroscience Institute, the Lynn Cancer Institute and the Gloria Drummond Physical Rehabilitation Institute.

Green says, “I cannot wait until the new hospital lobby is completed. I’ve got to really pull out the stops for that one!”
