In this Web Extra, Editor-in-chief Marie Speed suggests places to enjoy our sweltering summer—with no SPF required.
• A visit to the Norton Museum of Art, the Cornell in Delray or the Boca Raton Museum of Art, followed by lunch. Great art will get you right out of yourself and thinking. This is a good thing.
• Spend the afternoon at Town Center mall, even if you are not 15. In these days of lonely online shopping, we’ve forgotten how great it is to browse in person, and we’ve got the best mall there is right here, from luxury anchors like Neiman’s and Saks to fun smaller boutiques like Johnny Was and Lilly Pulitzer and Boll & Branch. Not to mention the endlessly I-did-not-know-I needed-it stores like Crate & Barrel and Pottery Barn. Don’t even start on shoe shopping. Plus it’s cold, has a few great restaurants (Mariposa, anyone?) and perfect places to just sit and people-watch, an unparalleled pastime in Boca.
• Chill out (literally) at the new Boca Ice & Fine Arts Center on Congress Avenue, our coolest new diversion and a place you can learn how to skate, experience a twirly bumper car on the ice (Friday and Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons), get frozen hot chocolate and more. Heat getting you down? Skip into this sleek ice palace and into another frooozzzeen world.
