Sometimes it just takes a pause.

And some pampering.

We all often fail to carve out enough self-care moments so you can imagine the challenge for those in their cancer journeys.

So a few of us decided to create that time for local Lynn Cancer Institute patients at Baptist Health South Florida’s Boca Raton Regional Hospital. Eight amazing women, in all different phases of their cancer journeys, signed up.

“This is a ‘keep on going, it’s going to be alright we are still beautiful in whatever stage you’re in’ kind of moment which is really hard to remember on most days,” said Rachel Cascisa.

The “Spring into Beauty” event was provided on April 29 by Peter’s Place Hair & Color (owner Peter Coppola is also a cancer survivor), LACES Hair Care, Agalia Fine Jewelers, En Vogue women’s fashion boutique, Lloyd’s Studio Photography and Copperfish Kitchen.

“It’s important to remember not only our femininity because we lose so much of it during the [cancer] process but it’s important to remember that we are beautiful no matter what, whether you have your hair or you have anything you lose during the process, you’re still a woman and you’re still strong,” said Madelin Sosa.

“Today was truly so special because it allowed me to take a moment and not focus on what’s going on in my day to day life and just focus on what’s important and that’s me… and the beauty within, and outwards as well,” added Laine Jones.

“It was an exceptional experience meeting these beautiful women. I heard their stories and am in total awe of their strength and perseverance. They are true warriors and simply stunning both inside and out,” said Nicole Flier, who teamed up with yours truly (Paige Kornblue) and Darci McNally, Lynn Cancer Institute Director of Oncology Support Services and Community Outreach, to create this event in the spirit of patient support and as a way to give back to the Go Pink Challenge.

Join us on May 13 for a cocktail reception for our “Spring Into Beauty” participants where we will unveil their portraits and party in pink at Peter’s Place Hair & Color. Event tickets are $25 per person and all proceeds benefit the Go Pink Challenge which supports breast cancer programs and services at the Christine E. Lynn Women’s Health & Wellness Institute and the Schmidt Family Center for Breast Care.

Your entry ticket will include bites and beverages courtesy of Copperfish Kitchen and raffle tickets can be purchased for a chance to win some fabulous prizes.
