With Boca Raton’s 100th anniversary just weeks away, the city has announced a gangbusters concert to ring in the occasion. Weezer, the Los Angeles alternative rock staples who have sold more than 35 million albums worldwide, will headline a special centennial concert on May 24 at Mizner Park Amphitheater.

But it’s not the only way to celebrate on that historic weekend. On May 25, the city will host a free Centennial Drone Show at 8:15 and 9:15 p.m. at Boca Raton Innovation Campus, the former home of IBM.

“Boca Raton’s Centennial Weekend is a celebration of our city’s rich history and bright future,” said Mayor Scott Singer in a press release. “From world-class entertainment to cutting-edge innovation, this weekend showcases everything that makes Boca Raton special. Whether you’re rocking out at Mizner Park, marveling at the drone show at BRiC, or raising a glass to 100 incredible years, we invite everyone to be part of this unforgettable milestone.”

For Weezer fans, this particular jaunt is a significant one, as it continues the band’s worldwide “Voyage to the Blue Planet” tour, with most set lists concluding with a complete performance of the group’s seminal self-titled 1994 debut, commonly referred to as the Blue Album.

Weezer tickets run $40 to $124.50, and they go on sale here at 10 a.m. Friday.
