From the moment we arrived at the brand-new Cabins at Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort, A Disney Vacation Club Resort, it felt like we had stepped into a modern-day and rustic fairytale.
These cabins sit tucked away like a well-kept secret within Walt Disney World Resort. We were surrounded by towering pines, the hum of cicadas, the scent of fresh rain, and the gentle rumble of golf carts gliding by. It was peaceful, expansive, and full of discovery.
My close and adventurous friends—Marian, Sharma, and Kimber—joined me on this much-anticipated trip. As a girl squad that loves a good escape, we were beyond excited to explore what these brand-new accommodations could offer. Oh, and our excitement was obvious, as we quickly changed into our matching Chip and Dale shirts and Mickey ears upon arrival.
Cabin Life
The layout of the cabin was both stylish and homey, with everything you could need for a comfortable and luxurious stay. Each one-bedroom cabin includes a private bedroom with bunk beds, sleek bathroom, a cozy living space with a pull-out couch, a fully equipped kitchen, a spacious dining nook, and a charming outdoor patio, all with floor-to-ceiling windows that allow you to feel immersed in the woodlands.
What truly stood out was the attention to detail. From Disney artwork featuring Mickey, Pluto, and of course Chip and Dale, to the warm woodgrain finishes, this space was the perfect blend of heritage and whimsy. There’s even an option for dog-friendly cabins, and each unit is equipped with its own EV charging station, all part of Disney Vacation Club’s commitment to sustainability and innovation. It’s clear that Walt Disney Imagineering poured heart and intention into every design element, creating not just a place to stay, but a place to connect.
Girls’ Weekend Goals
The first evening, we dove into the festivities at the Welcome Porch Party. Our hot pizzas of choice were waiting for us, with some pasta and potato salad, to take to our cabin for dinner as well. With drinks in hand from the Host Cabin, we got creative decorating our golf cart with flamingo lights and a green and white pool float ring that gave it “summer Jeep” vibes right after dinner inside our cabin.
There was a Crockett’s Craft Corner inside the Host Cabin, and the room buzzed with all of us creating and painting signature signs to place inside our cabins and to bring home. There was also the promise of a Golf Cart Parade to the Campfire Sing-along with Chip and Dale.
While the Campfire Sing-along remains a delightful nightly option for families staying at the resort, a Florida drizzle ended up postponing the official parade that evening. But if there’s one thing our squad knows how to do it’s creating our own fun, and the resort makes it easy to explore and enjoy its amenities.
From sipping rosé on the porch to swapping stories in the living room and giggling over golf cart rides, this is a place that offers visitors a way to be able to bond, breathe, and laugh. But the beauty of the cabins is that they’re perfect for anyone, offering activities like fishing and horseback riding. This is a place where groups of friends and multi-generational families can celebrate special moments with banners and fairy lights.

A Morning at Magic Kingdom
Thursday morning was nothing short of spectacular. Thanks to the DVC Events Team, we boarded a private motor coach and arrived at Magic Kingdom before park opening. There’s something surreal about walking down Main Street U.S.A. with no crowds in sight.
At 7:30 a.m., we stood in front of Cinderella Castle, taking pictures that looked like they belonged in a fantasy film, and one of team members even gave us the great idea to take some actions shots, jumping in front of the park’s castle.
We also enjoyed breakfast at Tomorrowland Terrace, where we tasted pastries, had some Mickey pancakes and a selection of eggs, bacon and sausage, as we sipped coffee and juice while gazing at the castle and chatting with other guests.
The Disney pin trading station added an extra dash of fun, introducing us to a new hobby we didn’t know we needed, and we even got to select some pins from the host team and received our very first lanyard to collect and trade pins at the Disney parks.
A DVC Private Lounge
Our visit continued with a private tour of McKim’s Mile House, the new DVC Member Lounge in Frontierland.
It is the brand-new Disney Vacation Club member lounge, and it offers so many useful things that help members enjoy a comfortable day exploring the park. A tribute to Disney history, with concept art and design touches inspired by Disney legend Sam McKim, an illustrator and the “master map maker” for Disneyland. The lounge’s comfy seating, air conditioning, and complimentary snacks and drinks, this cozy spot quickly became one of our favorite discoveries that we toured during our visit to Magic Kingdom.
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure and Kimber’s Return to Magic Kingdom
Later, we made our way to Tiana’s Bayou Adventure, and for some of us, it was our first time experiencing the new ride. For Kimber, it was her first time back at Magic Kingdom since 2006. Dressed in some fun Disney-inspired outfits with Mickey ears, we skipped through the park, or hearts light, and we took some fun pictures.
In one of them, where we posed together and took a picture of our shadows, a character dressed like a fun bear from Frontierland decided to join us, adding some spark to the picture in a hilarious way.
Tiana’s ride was everything—musical, joyful, culturally rich, and visually stunning. As we floated through the bayou, we had a blast just sharing something new and special together.
While I had ridden it before, and Kimber had not been a fan of the prior ride, Splash Mountain, as a kid (due to that DROP) she braved the experience and had a blast.

Archery, a Forest Fairytale Moment, and Dinner and a Show
After our visit, we had a scheduled archery session that ended up being a private experience since we were the only ones signed up.
With raindrops falling through the trees and targets ahead, I channeled my inner Katniss Everdeen and tried my best to hit the target. While I was not as successful, it was a learning experience that I recommend everyone try. We cheered each other on as arrows flew and laughter echoed through the pines.
Later, I slipped into my Snow-White dress from the 2025 live-action film. With Sharma behind the camera, we ventured into the wooded pathways around our cabin, where mossy trees and woodsy sections became our enchanted backdrop. The result? Forest princess photos that brought a childhood dream to life.
Our day continued with the classic and wildly fun Hoop-Dee-Doo Revue, where we dined on fried chicken, ribs, cornbread, coleslaw, and strawberry shortcake while laughing along to songs and skits. As the sky darkened, we ended the night and headed back to our cabin to rest and refresh after our long and amazing day to rest and recharge.
Guests also have the option to visit Clementine Beach, where they can watch the Happily Ever After Magic Kingdom bright show of fireworks paint the sky, sitting by the water.
The Magic of Being Seen and Feeling at Home
What makes this place special isn’t just the stunning cabins or the curated experiences, it’s the feeling you carry with you long after you leave.
From the welcoming team members to guests who honked at our decked-out golf cart with cheerful waves, there was a deep sense of community and acceptance.
The cabins gave us more than a place to stay. They gave us space to breathe. To play. To dream.
