Mark Swillinger has made another generous donation to Boca Raton’s universities, this time to Lynn University’s Conservatory of Music, its performing arts center, and other various spaces on campus.

The school shared the news, and the amount of just over $1 million will go toward the conservatory’s practice rooms, faculty studios, dean’s suite, and a classroom. The funds will also be used for scholarships, a terrace garden in the Keith C. and Elaine Johnson Wold Performing Arts Center, a classroom in the Mohammed Indimi International Business Center, and a student resource space and administrative suite in the Institute for Achievement and Learning.

The donation was made in honor of Swillinger’s wife, Marilyn, who died of lung cancer in 2023. She was an entrepreneur and an advocate for the arts and other causes in the community.

“Marilyn always believed that Lynn represented more than just music…It was about education, empowerment and excellence—across all disciplines,” Swillinger said in a press release.

Gareth P. Fowles, Lynn’s vice president for Enrollment and University Advancement, added, “Marilyn had a magnetic ability to bring people into her circle. I think when people hear and understand what this gift entails, it will also encourage them to want to join us.”

Last month, Swillinger donated $1.5 million to Florida Atlantic University’s Christine E. Lynn College of Nursing to create a new hospice and palliative care program, the first in the state. He was inspired after seeing the attentive care his wife received from nurses in her final days.
