Just because Boca Raton’s birthday was in May doesn’t mean the parties had to stop then.
On Sunday, Nov. 9, The Addison is hosting its Centennial Gala to celebrate not only the city’s 100th anniversary, but also the event venue’s own centenary—as well as that of the Boca Raton Police Department, Gunster Law, and Florida Power & Light.
“It will be a truly unforgettable evening with dinner, live entertainment, and special moments that honor Addison Mizner’s legacy,” Zoe Lanham, the vice president of The Addison, said in a statement.
The event will pay tribute to the past, present and future of Boca Raton through live entertainment, indulgent food, and interactive experiences allowing guests to walk through the last 100 years.
The Addison has watched the city grow since its inception in November 1925. Originally known as the Administration Building, it served as the headquarters for the Mizner Development Corporation. Engineers and architects worked from the building to design The Boca Raton (at that time, Cloister Inn) and dorms were also built for resort staff. The property is also the site of the city’s first restaurant, where architect Addison Mizner would wine and dine dignitaries.
Earlier this year, The Addison donated $100,000 to area nonprofits in honor of its centennial.
The Addison Centennial Gala offers two tiers of tickets—Mizner’s High Society, which includes a three-course dinner with a menu based on Mizner-era dining, and Johnny Brown’s Courtyard Special.
