Families will be descending upon the Boca Raton Innovation Campus this Saturday in comfy pajamas for the inaugural Poetry in Pajamas.
The City of Boca Raton is partnering with arts nonprofit O, Miami for a family-friendly evening filled with poetry, art installations, skateboarding, sensory-friendly experiences, and live music.
Under magical yarn-covered decor by The InterKnit, kids of all ages can recite their favorite poetry (their own or by someone else) to their new friends as well as take part in lawn games and explore a “by kids-for-kids market” with bites from local restaurants. Mad Arts will be bringing in a Holo Box installation for story time, and Miami’s electric-pop duo Afrobeta will provide the tunes for a dance party. Tutifruiti Skate will be showing off their skateboarding and roller skating skills for the little ones, too. The Sensory Sonnet Soiree by Wonder Play! experience will also be set up for a sensory-friendly activity. Finally, art tables will be scattered throughout the event, too, with custom poetry, and coloring sheets and merchandise celebrating Boca Raton’s 100th anniversary.

As a perk, Brightline is offering 15% off ticket prices with code OMIAMIPOETRY for select train departures and returns on the day of Poetry in Pajamas. There will also be a complimentary shuttle service to and from the station for the event.
The city has partnered with O, Miami over the last year and a half for centennial celebrations as well as Boca Raton’s public art expansion. Last summer, locals were encouraged to pen poetry using their zip codes for an Ode to Boca; selected poems were painted on the doors of the Mizner Park Amphitheater stage. The nonprofit also facilitated the installation of poetry on the facade of the Spanish River Library using recycled plastic letters.
Poetry in Pajamas is a free event this Saturday, Nov. 8 from 5 to 8:30 p.m. at BRiC, 4920 Conference Way N. in Boca Raton. For more information, visit omiami.org
