The Boca Raton Historical Society announced a roster of 25 luminaries who will be honored during this year’s Walk of Recognition, including Boca magazine’s editor emeritus Marie Speed.
While in years past a few people were selected to be added, this year, the program was expanded to honor more leaders in the community in recognition of Boca Raton and The Addison’s centennial. According to a press release, the centennial celebration recognizes “leaders whose vision, generosity, creativity, and community stewardship shaped Boca Raton at the dawn of its second century.”
This year’s luminaries are:

- Dean Michael Horswell, PhD

- Gary Peters
- Dr. Jon Robertson
- Charlotte and Morris Robinson
- Carrie Rubin
- Michelle Rubin
- The Rev. Andrew Sherman

The honorees will be jointly recognized on a special centennial plaque that will be installed at Royal Palm Place. Each year, people who have made an impact on the community in education, healthcare, culture, civic leadership, business, philanthropy and community service are recognized.
The 25 luminaries will be honored at a ceremony and reception at The Addison on Dec. 2 at 6 p.m. Tickets are $125 and benefit the Boca Raton Historical Society.
The Walk of Recognition is a time-honored tradition in Boca Raton since 1997, founded and sponsored by philanthropists Marta and Jim Batmasian. The stars and plaques are installed in Mizner Plaza at Royal Palm Place, owned by the Batmasians.
