Other than facing the mother of all feminine dilemmas of what to wear on special occasions, often what hair to wear is the next in line. Take last week for instance; we had to choose what tresses to sport for an early afternoon waterfront wedding. Battling between extremes of too casual and too formal, we finally found the obvious answer sipping champagne in a dry bar.
Irony aside, blowout salons are becoming all the rage in South Florida. New York, Los Angeles and other metros were amongst the first to start this trend and it’s catching on quick here. Last month we talked about Boca’s very own blowout salons and you might have heard about Blo franchises in Miami.
So why should Fort Lauderdale be left out? Just Air is the first to fill this niche. Owners Brooke Gettler and Nicole Carner were quick to fill the gap when they experienced this concept out of state. Gettler has a fashion background and is well implicated in Fort Lauderdale’s luxury and glam scene. Carner saw the opportunity as a pocket-friendly alternative to pricey salons that come with the fuss factor.
Minutes away from the Fort Lauderdale beach, Just Air’s refreshing and organic white and green interiors offer affordable luxury to the max. Complete with a complimentary glass of wine or champagne and iPad surfing. Fully focused on just blowouts, for $35 you can choose from straight, curly or wavy options cleverly branded as “Just Straight Sleek and Smooth”, “Just Curls” and “Just Waves”. An updo will cost you slightly more and they also have a host of nourishing treatments to choose from.
Open seven days a week with extended weekend hours, Just Air has a membership program in tow for added savings. They also have an interesting lineup of holiday events in collaboration with local fashion boutiques.
We settled for a fine mix of textures that juxtaposed straight and curly textures with a hint of Moroccan oil. The perfect coiffure and the champagne set the tone for a perfect evening that followed.
