Dr. Lenny Kaufman, a urologist and men’s health physician in Coral Springs, thinks men’s health has fallen behind women’s health when it comes to service and preventive care. That’s why he’s starting a new, unique practice that focuses on helping men maintain their performance as they age.

“Men today, particularly those between the ages of 35 and 70, are more in tune with their bodies than ever before,” Dr. Kaufman says. “They’re noticing changes in energy, libido and performance, and they want to understand why.”

After 30 years as a urologist where he’s helped men with prostate cancer, low testosterone, erectile dysfunction and fertility, Dr. Kaufman wanted a practice where he had time to focus on helping men live their best.

Many of the conditions the urologists treat—particularly ED and low testosterone—are like a check engine light for other health problems, especially heart disease and type diabetes. But when men experience symptoms, they are often too embarrassed to bring it up face-to-face with a doctor and rely on over-the-phone or internet clinics, which may not consider their overall health.

“My goal in this new practice is to offer a more personalized way men can experience health care by building an environment of trust and comprehensive care,” Dr. Kaufman says.

The core of his new practice is a comprehensive annual wellness program that includes advanced screenings and diagnostic tests. Dr. Kaufman can take the results of these  tests, which focus on areas such as hormonal health, sexual health, brain health, agility and cardiometabolic risk factors, and personalize a wellness plan for patients. Dr. Kaufman will even perform a V02 Max screening, which is a strong, actionable predictor of longevity.

He will continue to focus on the three main reasons men see the urologist: Low T, ED and prostate issues. “This program is for men of all ages,” Dr. Kaufman says. “Testosterone, for example, decreases 1 percent per year every year after 35, which  can lead to symptoms like reduced sex drive, ED, fatigue and muscle loss. Men in their 40s, 50s and 60s who want to live healthier and longer, this program is for them.”

To launch his new men’s health and urology practice, Dr. Kaufman has partnered with MDVIP, a national network of physicians who see fewer patients so they can spend more time personalizing their approach to care and helping patients find solutions for their health challenges.

Dr. Kaufman went to the University of Kansas School of Medicine, did his residency at the University of Nebraska Medical Center and his fellowship in male infertility and andrology at the University of Illinois at Chicago. He has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Miami. He is also fluent in Spanish.

Dr. Kaufman and his family have lived in Parkland for 25 years. Outside of work, he likes spending time with them, working out, playing golf and enjoying life.

“I am excited to offer a practice dedicated to men’s health,” Dr. Kaufman says. “It  represents the evolution of modern men’s health care: high-touch, evidence-based and built on earned trust between my patients and me.”
