Local philanthropists Jim and Marta Batmasian announced that their foundation will be matching donations to local charities up to $150,000.
Called the Boca Community Collective, the campaign celebrates the Batmasian Family Foundation’s 50th anniversary.
“This collaborative fundraising campaign encourages businesses and citizens to donate to nonprofits in our area and double their impact,” Jim Batmasian wrote in an email sent to supporters.
He added that local nonprofits “we hold dear to [our] hearts” include a range of causes, from domestic violence, healthcare, arts and culture, food insecurity, education, and more. The specific nonprofits are listed for the public to make a donation to, or, they can nominate another registered charity.
Donations must be made by Dec. 30, and the foundation will match the donations dollar-for-dollar up to $150,000.
The Batmasians are a notably giving couple, arriving in Boca Raton in 1983 as developers and leaving a lasting impact on the city. They founded Propel (People Reaching Out to Provide Education and Leadership) and the Children’s Science Explorium, created the Walk of Recognition and the Garden of Humanity, and have also donated countless dollars to area nonprofits. The couple was featured as Hometown Heroes in Boca magazine.
