The burger wars just got a little more heated with the debut this week of the first South Florida outlet of Boardwalk Fresh Burgers & Fries (21077 Powerline Rd., The Shops at Boca Grove, Boca Raton, 561/482-1561), the 7th of what will soon be 10 outlets in six states for the Maryland-based company and the second of an eventual 50 eateries in Florida.

The chain, which seems to be taking aim directly at Five Guys, offers 4-ounce burgers that can be customize to taste with various cheeses, garnishes and sauces, as well as fries that are done in true restaurant style, which is to say fried in peanut oil several times and different temperatures. There are also a handful of wraps, salads, chicken sandwiches and desserts, with everything under $10.

It’s a burger world, and we’re just eating in it.
