What did moms do before social media? It keeps us connected. It keeps us informed. But mostly, it’s an instantly gratifying way to share photos of our children, food and vacations! Now, of course social media isn’t perfect. There’s always the inevitable parenting drama and comparison game, especially here in Boca Raton. But where there’s a mom + a smart phone, there’s usually another status update about her #bocakid.
My favorite platform for years now has been Instagram (even though that dang algorithm shows my posts to only a tiny percentage of my followers). But, I think moms who take the time to post interesting and beautiful photos (and now stories and video!) on Instagram are marvelous. In fact, when I moved back to Boca, the first hashtag I ever searched to start filling up my Instagram feed was #bocamom.
Instagram has grown a lot since I started featuring my favorite local “grammers” in this column in 2015. So, deciding on my annual picks for Boca moms to follow was challenging! Check out who made the cut for 2020…
The Home Décor Mom
@the_floridagirl – 20.3k followers
If you love scrolling through Pinterest-worthy home renovations and beyond creative party décor (for both children and adults), then Delray Beach-based mom @the_floridagirl is the account for you! Jen Feliciano loves a colorful tablescape and modern farmhouse home makeover and isn’t afraid to post about it. She also loves her husband and adorable 2 year-old daughter, Hendrix, as evidenced by her daily Instagram stories chronicling their family life.
Be sure to check out the gorgeous in-feed photos from Hendrix’s recent Sugarplum Fairy-themed birthday party. They are what we “Amazon Prime moms” call: GOALS.
Bonus feature of @the_floridagirl account includes: Daily Design Dupes in her highlights where Feliciano pits expensive home décor items against affordable lookalike versions. Any stylish Boca mom can appreciate that!
The Hostess with the Mostest Mom
@celebrationstylist – 103k followers
A Boca-based mom who entertains for a living is impressive. But the @celebrationstylist does it on a whole other level. From homemade fairy wand tutorials to how to decorate a *pink* Christmas tree, blogger Jessica Lighter finds any excuse to celebrate on the daily with her two young daughters, Lilah and Chloe!
There is so much inspiration on her Instagram account for how to transition your home décor from one holiday to the next. Because let’s be honest, kids love that stuff. And we moms will pretty much do anything to see our children smile, right?
Bonus feature of the @celebrationstylist account includes: Access to a paid membership to Cue the Confetti, which delivers a new 8”x10” frame-worthy party print to your door each month. Designed to correspond with each holiday, you can use it to add a festive touch anywhere in your home, bar cart or party. As a mom, I love anything that helps make decorating for holidays easier and more fun!
The Foodie Mom
@foodie_girlmama – 2k followers
If you have an appreciation for easy meals, Starbucks dupes and adorable babies, then be sure to follow Meredith of @foodie_girlmama! This local mom isn’t afraid to showcase her “basic” and “extra” side via her passion for buffalo plaid, bows and pumpkin spice…even if she has to start in August to fit it all in her grid!
Meredith is currently soaking up her remaining stay-at-home-mom time with 1 year-old daughter Charlotte (a.k.a. Char Char) and making sure her followers see that delicious meals for a family (large or small) can be extremely easy and affordable to pull off. And, if you happen to have a holiday Starbucks craving and are stuck at home with a napping baby, she’s confident you can make its twin in the kitchen with the right ingredients.
Bonus feature of the @foodie_girlmama account includes: Recipes! Check out her highlights for a growing library of easy meal options. Not to mention a drool-worthy roundup of stories from her recent holiday vacation to Tennessee that makes me want to pack my bags for next winter vacation!
