Boca Raton Mayor Scott Singer, whose time at city hall comes to a close in March, announced Thursday that he will be running as a Republican for U.S. Congress in Florida’s 23rd district.

That will put him up against Congressman Jared Moskowitz, a Democrat, who is running for reelection.

Singer wrote on social media, “As a three term Mayor, I fought to keep taxes and crime low and delivered results to provide a safe and thriving place to live. I’m running for Congress as an America First conservative who believes that we need leaders in D.C. who will work to build on President Trump’s success to secure our borders, defend our nation, cut waste, and bring taxes and costs down for all Americans.”

In a campaign video, his headshot is alongside what has become an iconic photo of President Donald Trump after an attempted assassination in July, followed by video clips of Singer’s interviews with national news stations touting his work in Boca Raton, encouraging businesses to move down from New York.

“While New York collapses under higher taxes and radical left policies, Scott Singer proved that America first leadership delivers,” a narrator says.

Singer continued in his statement on social media, “I know this seat is critical in order to win a GOP House majority in November 2026. When elected, I will work with the President to achieve America First wins that will deliver positive results for our FL-23 communities.

“As mayor, I balanced budgets while working to advance public safety, education, affordability, and accountability, and will work to do the same as a strong voice for South Florida residents.”

In the video, it’s promised that he will “build on President Trump’s success to secure our borders, defend our nation, cut waste and bring taxes and costs down for all Americans.”

The election for the U.S. Congress is Nov. 3, 2026. With Singer’s seat vacated, Councilmembers Fran Nachlas and Andy Thompson are vying for the job of mayor.
