Callero’s Prime Steak and Seafood, which used to occupy a space in Manalapan’s Plaza de Mer, is moving to downtown Lake Worth, taking over the spot on Lake Avenue that was the long-time home of L’Anjou French restaurant.
When it opens sometime this fall, the restaurant will shorten its name to Callaro’s Steakhouse. Renovations currently under way will give it a more modern, though not over the top, look, with, among other things, a brick façade and windows that open onto the street.
Callaro’s fans needn’t fear, however. The menu will still feature thick, juicy USDA Prime steaks, but with the addition of more affordable items and an expanded bar menu, including the requisite killer burger. Also making. Also making the move across the Intracoastal will be chef Keith Scragg and front of the house manager (and Scragg’s wife), Beth.
P.S. In a bit of restaurant musical chairs, local stalwart John G’s, whose diner-friendly breakfasts used to have ‘em lining up at the door of their former location in Lake Worth’s now-under-renovation casino, has moved into the old Callaro space in Manalapan. It appears that’s going to be the popular eatery’s permanent home, as reports have indicated the owners couldn’t reach a deal with the city of Lake Worth to move back to the casino when its $6 million makeover is completed sometime next year.
