This summer marks the United States’ semiquincentennial (that’s a mouthful), or the 250th anniversary of its founding. Institutions around town are already starting with the festivities, including these upcoming America250 events:

The Freedom Truck
Feb. 20 to 23 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. at FAU’s Eleanor R. Baldwin Arena, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton.

The truck is one of six rolling through the country in honor of America250, with a walkthrough exhibit with artifacts from the early days of the United States as well as digital displays, interactive storytelling, an “Are you a loyalist or patriot?” quiz, and a chance to digitally sign your name to the Declaration of Independence.

FAU Lecture Series
Now through March 19 at FAU, 777 Glades Road, Boca Raton

A lecture series covering Alexander Hamilton, “Drunk History” and “SNL’s” take on the American Revolution, Florida’s role in the war, and more. library.fau.edu/special-collections/festival-americas-250th-1776-2026

“We Hold These Truths: We Walk These Grounds”

Town Hall Talks
Now through July 27 at the Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum, 71 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton

The museum’s season of speakers will focus on the American Revolution, including the role of women in the war, strategy, spies, and more. bocahistory.org/america250 

“America 250: The 14th Colony”
May 13 to Aug. 27 at the Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum, 71 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton

Florida may not have become a state until 1845, but it still had a lasting impact on the American Revolution. This exhibit explores the Sunshine State’s contributions, including 18th-century Florida maps, memorabilia from the era, and elements from the Museum of Florida History’s “Viva Florida” exhibit. bocahistory.org/america250 

Summer Sips and Sounds
July 2 at the Schmidt Boca Raton History Museum, 71 N. Federal Highway, Boca Raton

A part of the museum’s ongoing collaboration with the Festival of the Arts Boca, a patriotic concert to kick off the Fourth of July celebrations. bocahistory.org/america250

July 4 throughout Boca Raton

Fourth of July Celebration
July 4 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. at East Atlantic Avenue and A1A in Delray Beach

The party starts with the raising of Delray Beach’s 60-foot American flag and singing of the National Anthem, followed by live music, family-friendly activities, and fireworks. delraybeachfl.gov/our-city/things-to-do/4th-of-july
